  • Adventures In The Screen Trade by William Goldman, Warner Books, 1983. This is primarily about writing screenplays for movies, but the craft of making believable characters with meaningful dialog is the same no matter what media is being considered.
  • Writing For Interactive Media: The Complete Guide by Jon Samsel and Darryl Wimberley, Allworth Press, 1998. Absolutely the best hands-on guide for what the GoW wants to do.
  • Hamlet On The Holodeck: The Future of Narrative in Cyberspace by Janet H. Murray, Free Press, 1997. This is more conceptual rather than "how-to" but it presents a lot of excellent information especially for those who have not really thought about how non-linear stories have to be presented.
